Qualification for application |
¤· Global overseas Koreans; Middle, High and University students.
- Overseas Koreans who are legally overseas residents for more than 5 years
¡¤National residents, permanent residents, Korean adoptees, children of multicultural families (including at least one Korean), descendants of Koreans, and children of Korean nationals.
- Those who are not in conflict with the laws of the host country
- Those who do not have physical or mental health problems in participating the full program schedule.
¡Ø If you are a 15-year-old Russian or CIS country participant, you must fill out the parent's consent form to travel overseas and submit it to the competent authority. |
Program contents |
¤· City Tour, Rural Experience, Traditional & Modern Korea Experience, Historical Sites and Major Facilities Visits
¤· Korean family homestay, Korean school experience, One-to-one exchange with domestic teens
¤· Cultural experiences, lectures and missions, social participation and sharing activities
¤· Testimonials and willingness presentation, evaluation and suggestions |
¤· Visit to major sites and facilities
¤· Discussion and training for leadership development
¤· Discuss global issues such as global citizenship, environment, and Korean unification
¤· Exchange with domestic university students and next generation leaders, volunteer activities, etc.

2. Application
A. Application period (Korea Standard Time)
¤· Individual application : Mar. 28(Wed)~Apr. 11(Wed), 2018
¤· Diplomatic office review : Apr. 12(Thu)~Apr. 20(Fri), 2018
¤· Arrival of documents after Diplomatic office review : Only applications arrived before April 23, 2018 (Mon) will be counted

¤· Apr. 12(Thu)~Apr. 23(Mon), 2018 : Participant Recommendation by Diplomatic office
¤· Apr. 24(Tue)~May. 6(Fri), 2018 : Final participant selection (participant selection deliberation), notification completed
¡Ø The above schedule may change due to the circumstances of the OKF.
C. Notice of Result
¤· Notification to the local government (diplomatic) office of the applicant, online homepage of Overseas Koreans Foundation (www.korean.net), and personal e-mail
D. Criteria for Selection
¤· Students who have faithfully write motivation for application, and self-introduction letter
¤· Students who perform well in Korean society, residence area, school, etc.
¤· Students who are actively and willing to participate in this program and who are expected to grow as talented individuals in the future
¤· Students who will contributed to national development as descent of national merit Korean people (first review)
¤· Students who have excellent recommendations from the head of the local government (Diplomatic office), community leaders, and principals
¤· Comprehensive review of submitted documents
E. Support Contents
¤· Airfare
- 50% airfare to all participants (Round trip, Economy basis)
- Mexican, Cuban - Korean descendants: 100% support (Roundtrip, Economy basis)
- Principles of support
¡¤ Airfare is only applicable if purchased for the purpose of attending this program.
¡¤ In the case of a parent/family visit, the flying trip must not exceed 14 days in total (before and after the event).
¡¤ The airfare is supported when the participant departs from the residence area. However, if traveling through another area for personal travel, the additional fee will not be provided.
¡¤ If departing from other areas outside of your residence due to your personal circumstances, support airfare will apply based on your local residence airfare (if departing from other area is more expensive than the local area airfare).
¡¤ Residence : Japan, Departing area : United States (Airfare support will be based on airfare from Japan)
¡¤ Residence : United States, Departing area : Japan (Airfare support will be based on airfare from Japan)
- In cases other than the above, the Overseas Korean Foundation and the partner organizations decide in accordance with the matter whether or not to enforce it
- How to receive airfare support : To be announced to each participant
¤· Expenses and Travel Insurance
- Accommodation, meals, vehicle and traveler's insurance for the duration of the program
